Apr 2003 Van Loveren Papillon N/V Brut– Was chosen as “Wine of the Week” by Max Jacobson of the Las Vegas Sun. “The estate is known for an excellent range of white varietals such as chardonnay and sauvignon blanc, but it also produces dessert wines, and this delicious sparkling wine, a fruity wine with a delightful bouquet of peaches and apples. It is 30 percent sauvignon blanc, 70 percent French Colombard. Expect it to mature a bit for the next two to three years. It's delicious as an aperitif, and a fine value.”
Apr 2003 Van Loveren Chardonnay Reserve 2002– Was chosen as “Wine of the Week” by Max Jacobson of the Las Vegas Sun. “The Western Cape area of South Africa is producing some of the world's greatest wines for the money at the moment, thanks to the devalued Rand, that country's unit of currency. This region has a long tradition of wine production; indeed, more than 350 years and still going strong. One of the best grapes to show off the region is chardonnay, and this wine, firm, smooth and long in the finish, is a fine example. Drink it now, as an aperitif, with seafood, pasta or poultry.”
Mar 2003 Decanter Magazine Van loveren Reserve Chardonnay 2002 was awarded a 4 Star rating by Decanter
Feb 2003 Certificate of Appreciation from Mayor James K. Hahn, City of Los Angeles
